Remembering Alexander McQueen

The fashion industry mourn for the news that Alexander McQueen has killed himself and it is particularly devastating because it always felt to me like he’d be the last man standing. He was restless, but so pragmatic with it I assumed he had what it took to endure the extreme situations he placed himself in. He was also an arch romantic with a pessimistic streak.

It produced some of the most beautiful, shocking images in the history of fashion, but it’s a state of mind that can lead to endless disappointments. The death of McQueen’s mother last week would have validated his pessimism. It would undoubtedly have taken away his most vital support. It’s awful to imagine him trying—and failing—to cope, and one can only hope that, if he was looking for peace, he found it. For everyone left behind, there will eventually be consolation, however scant right now, in a body of work whose power will never die.

Beyoncé “Heat” Fragrance

Beyonce first fragrance “Beyonce Heat” definitely hit not only her audience but also the customers with an estimated $60,000 sales at the flagship in one day.

Terry Lundgren, president, chairman and chief executive officer of Macy’s Inc., said the scent has the potential to be Macy’s number-one fragrance for the year, and was already number one without advertising.“You can tell the potential of a celebrity fragrance brand in its first few days in store,” Lundgren said. “This is off-the-chart.”

“I am so happy to be living in this moment,” an exuberant Knowles, clad in a short, fitted red Marc Bouwer dress and Lorraine Schwartz rubies and diamonds. She added “I think about the icons that I respect and they all have their own fragrance so I thought it was time for me to have my own.” “Every little detail is very personal, so I’m extremely proud.”

The name “Heat,” was chosen for it’s classic quality, afterall warmth is always in fashion with an underlying air of sensuality. “I wanted something that would last forever and never go out of style,” said Knowles. “It also sounds very sexy. When a man asks ‘What are you wearing?’ Knowles replies in a sexy voice ‘Heat.'”

Cool chocolate fashion

Frances Cooley a gourmet desert designer who created the ultimate woman’s fantasy – stiletto heels and handbags made of pure chocolate. Frances came from Clifton, Bristol, she decided to launched her creation after finding a vintage chocolate shoe mould in Belgium.

She said: ”People are wowed about them because it’s the perfect gift for a woman – chocolate and stiletto shoes put together. ”They’ve been selling like hot cakes. This past year sales have been incredible. ”They’ve been sold alongside pink champagne at some stores as well, and I could see someone drinking the champagne right out of the shoe.”

Her unique designs have become so popular that they have garnered attention from high-end retailers in London – including luxury department store Liberty.

She added: ”A friend, who is a French chef, had a meeting at Liberty in London and he suggested that I accompany him in case they might be interested in selling my cakes. ”They were immediately interested in the shoes and started talking about packages and designs. ”About six months ago I got my first order from them, and as well as selling my products, Liberty has also used my chocolate shoes for promoting events.”

The success of her chocolate shoes inspired her to create a matching range of a chocolate handbag version which all the people love and adore aswell.

The latest Versace Men’s RTW collection

Versace is bang on trend on his latest Versace Men’s RTW collection,  it’s a trip back to the future via the cyberpunk universe depicted in the forthcoming “Tron” sequel.

Donatella Versace said that “We’re going back to the values of the Gianni Versace man from the early Nineties,” “Leather, hardware, chains, metal: He’s very strong.” Indeed, a strong will – and a taut physique – may be required in order to sport several of the pieces from this stick-to-the-ribs collection.

Cristiano the new face of Emporio Armani Underwear and Jeans

Cristiano Ronaldo appears to have embraced his new modelling career with the striking series of steamy hot poses showing off his six-pack as the face of the new campaign for Emporio Armani Underwear and jeans. The black-and-white images for the Spring/Summer 2010 campaign were shot on location in Madrid by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott.

Armani said “Cristiano is a great-looking young man with the perfect physique of an athlete,” he also added that “Cristiano is the essence of youth – spontaneous, exciting and a real maverick. Anna Molinari whipped up a girlish homage to the island and its culture with her motto “Jamaica me crazy” for her Bluemarine collection. She opened the catwalk with a tropical tie-dye story, in an explosion of bright fuchsias, tangerines, sorbet yellows and limes.

And while only the pluckiest of gals could rock the look head-to-toe with a pumping reggae soundtrack, there were plenty of terrific summer items to be pulled like vibrant caftans, breezy blouses and sweater dresses.
